Physio4athletes can assist those who have injured their ACL. Ryan, one of our physiotherapists has undergone two ACL reconstructions, and the subsequent rehabilitation, and has insight into the necessary demands of the recovery process.

Do you need surgery for an ACL rupture?
Despite the common belief that a surgical reconstruction of the ACL is needed to return to sport, research has shown that some athletes can return to pre-injury sporting levels with conservative management (physiotherapy led rehabilitation). This is decided on a case by case basis,  depending on the demands an individual's sport or activity places on the knee, and
in consultation with an orthopaedic surgeon. The decision to opt for the surgical route is solely up to the patient and physio4athletes can assist with rehabilitation in all scenarios. Here at physio4athletes we believe in educating our clients on all management options and can plan a staged rehabilitation program based on clinical evidence and outcome measures.

Injury Prevention:
We recommend a sport specific musculoskeletal screening and prevention program that aims to develop the necessary strength and flexibility required to reduce the risk of injury.
