HOW DID PHYSIO4ATHLETES START?
Physio4athletes group was established in 2013 by Helen Walker after working at several excellent physiotherapy practices. Helen decided to venture out on her own and create a clinic where her 'vision' for the delivery of physiotherapy care could be realised. This vision is centred around:
- For all clients, delivering the same standard of physiotherapy care available to high performance athletes.
- Allowing sufficient consultation time to provide this care. At Physio4athletes all consultations are 45 minutes.
- Exposing physios to work experience in high performance sport environments
- Establishing referral networks to medical professionals
DO I NEED A REFERRAL TO SEE A PHYSIOTHERAPIST?
No. You do not need a doctors referral to see a physiotherapist.
DO YOU TREAT WALK INS OR DO I NEED TO MAKE AN APPOINTMENT?
At Physio4athletes, it is necessary to make an appointment, either online or by phone before coming into the clinic. Our staff regularly work off site to provide physiotherapy services to sporting clubs which may leave the clinic unattended for periods of time.
DO YOU ACCEPT PRIVATE HEALTH?
If you have private health insurance and have the "extras" package, you should be able to claim part of the treatment fee. There are many different insurance providers and cover that all provide a different rebate. Providing you have your health insurance card with you, we can automatically claim your rebate through our HICAPS machine leaving only the remaining gap to be paid on the date.

Here at Physio4athletes we have a number of titled sports physiotherapists. Titled sports physiotherapists have completed further post graduate training allowing them a greater understanding of the demands and treatment of the sporting population. However, all physiotherapist at Physio4athletes are capable of managing a wide range sporting injuries and are well trained to help you return to sport successfully.
HOW LONG ARE THE CONSULTATIONS?
At Physio4athletes, we provide generous standard consultation times of 45 minutes, reserved exclusively for you.
WHAT IS TELEHEALTH PHYSIOTHERAPY?
Telehealth physiotherapy has been around for a number of years but has become very popular during the COVID-19 pandemic. It is one of the treatment modalities in our "toolkit" at Physio4athletes. It is simple and easy to operate & is ideal for patients in remote locations. Your physiotherapist will use secure videoconferencing software to provide assessment and a treatment plan at a pre- arranged appointment time. Most musculoskeletal injury problems that are not caused by trauma (fall, car accident, impact) can be managed well with telehealth. Please go to our telehealth page for more info. If you are unsure whether telehealth is right for you, please call ahead of time on 96904043.
