Helen is the founder of the Physio4athletes group and has worked in private practice for over 25 years. After graduating in 1989, she commenced her private practice career in Sydney and gained broad experience treating recreational and elite participants from sports including Rugby League, Rugby Union, Basketball and Netball, as well as injured workers. She attained the Sports Physiotherapist title in 1999, being amongst the first in Australia to complete the examination process.

Upon moving to Melbourne in 2000, Helen worked in various private practices before establishing Physio4athletes. She pursued her interest in treating injured swimmers' shoulders and completed her PhD in 2010 (UniMelb) investigating risk factors for shoulder pain in competitive swimmers. Helen has published her research in peer reviewed journals, presented at conferences and co-authored a chapter on management of swimmers' shoulder injuries in a sports medicine textbook.

Helen's sports coverage experience is extensive, including on-site physiotherapy delivery at local sporting competitions early in her career and later, national and international sports competitions.  Highlights for sports coverage in swimming include being physiotherapist at the Sydney 2000 Olympic games Aquatic Centre,  Australian Swim team physiotherapist at the Montreal 2005 FINA  World Swim Championships, Melbourne 2006 Commonwealth Games, Japan Open 2015, and  Open Water Swimming Rio 2016 pre-selection meets. More recently, Helen was lead physiotherapist at the FINA World Swimming Championships (25m), Melbourne 2022. Helen also worked at the Gold Coast Commonwealth games 2018 with the Malaysian Track cycling team.

Prior consultancy roles have included physiotherapist for the Swimming Australia High Performance Squad (MSAC) and Malaysian Track cycling team. Helen currently consults to the Racing Victoria Apprentice Jockey program and rehabilitates many injured jockeys in clinic.

Despite her research interests, Helen is first and foremost a clinician who is committed to providing effective treatment and rehabilitation for all of her clients.
Helen enjoys giving back to the profession by supervising and mentoring  physiotherapy students and new graduates when the opportunity arises.  She enjoys her time watching junior Basketball games on weekends and spending quality time with her family.
